There has been quite a lot of hullabaloo recently with whether a blog follows or doesn’t follow a comment. Wordpress is set as default not to follow links in comments. Basically what that means is that any link posted in a comment isn’t recognized by the famous Googlebots and isn’t taken into account as far as PageRank or technorati is concerned.

Recently many blogs have started to open up the follow attributes of their blogs which means that any comment posted automatically creates a link to the comentators url.

I had tried to get my blog to “Follow” with no success as I had trouble with various plugins that I couldn’t get to work, but today I’ve found a simple wordpress plugin, that you just need to install and voila it works, thanks to Chris at Fuzzy Future. The simple plugin I’ve used is the sem-dofollow plugin, just upload into your wp-plugin folder and activate on your control panel and you become a follower.

Don’t be like John Chow and charge 10$ for a commentator to be followed, allow your commentators free follow on’s, it’s your readers  and their contributions that will make your blog a success or not, don’t be selfish with linkbacks.

I’m gonna find a nice “I Follow” badge to add to the sidebar, but even though I havent added a badge yet, wotZcool now Follows.
