Where Are You From? , Where Are You Going? and More important, Will You Get There?
May 29th, 2007 by Steve Sandells
There are probably many more bloggers who have been blogging for such a period of time and even more, but as Jane says, an awful lot of bloggers who started fervously wanting to “Eat the World” have fallen on the wayside.
1. Where did wotZcool come from?
I’ve noticed that since I started blogging my initial goals and motivations have changed. After reading about john Chow making 7000$ in february after 5 months, I thought that it was something that anyone could do. I quickly realised that it was a lot more difficult than that and my original illusion to fame and fortune was mislead.
2. Where is wotZcool going?
I’ve realised that the importance of making a blog successful is social networking. As in real life, success is based on relationships, networking and making the most of oportunities. As in life off of the internet your atitude towards others is fundamental, basically what goes around comes around. Be generous, friendly and helpful, and others will be generous, friendly and helpful. If you are able to genuinely attract others then they will stick around and you’ll become more and more successful.
Of course content is extremely important, you have to have something to say or even your most avid fans will get tired and drop out. But content can be anything that captures peoples minds and makes them think. I would urge you all to take a look at where your at and think about if you’re capturing your readers attention.
and,
3. Will I get there?
There is nothing like being positive. I once read a quote although I can’t remember who it was by but went something like this:
” If you think that you can, or if you think that you can’t. Be sure whichever you think, you’ll be right”
I know I’ll be here in 6 months time, writing and developing a network of friends, contacts and readers.
“Be water my friend”
PS. Tomorrow I’ll update my Viralink links

It’s too bad when people can’t make it past the ‘dip’. I guess it’s like any other business, the determined will prevail.
Blogging is not a way to be millionary in four months, it grows solowly
I totally agree, maybe you won’t be a millionaire in 4 years either. It’s something you realise once you get started, but so many bloggers start with a misconceived idea, myself included.
yes unfortunately i’ve seen a few people i thought were right on track, just sort of fall off of posting. most of them i think also started after JC’s february report, myself included… but let’s all remember that JC started monetizing his blog a year and a half after he started it, so persistence and self-motivation are key, as jane may points out.
my only advice, when you really don’t feel like writing, that’s the most critical time to actually write. getting through those tough days will make you a stronger blogger.
Steve to Steve!
many more people will spring into action as the media is also starting to cover the new web platforms like the popularity of social networking sites.
I think we can all agree here that the real winners are easily identified after about half a post?
Keep up the great work!
