Formula 1 Grand Prix Barcelona 2007
May 16th, 2007 by Steve Sandells
As I promised here are some photos from last weekends Formula 1 grand prix in Barcelona. I’m afraid I wasn’t able to post the pictures sooner as straight after the race I had to drive to San Sebastian to uphold my duties as a law abiding citizen and testify in a fraud case. The race was great, but the having to testify in court isn’t much fun at all, even when you’re only a witness.
Back to the formula one. It was a fabulous weekend as far as the weather was concerned with temperatures reaching 32º celsius on Sunday. It would have been more bareable with a little breeze or some occasional cloud cover, but I kept creaming myself up with a good strong sun cream and managed to avoid the “red lobster” effect.
The race was quite exciting with Felipe Massa of Ferrari winning, accompanied on the podium by Lewis Hamilton of McLaren Mercedes with a fantastic second place and a disappointed Fernando Alonso also of McLaren Mercedes in third place. The world championship is now lead by Hamilton with 30 points, the youngest leader ever, as well as being the first rookie driver to have four podium finishes out of his first four races. Quite an amazing feat and one that is fastly turning his critics to fans.
So here are some photos:
View of Barcelona from hotel on Montjuic
The 2007 McLaren Mercedes.
Red Bull Racing, definately one of the most daring designs.
Me and a Ferrari. Every boys dream.
Some air acrobatics from the “Aguilas” squadron entertaining between races.
The drivers being drivern around the circuit prior to the race.
The nose of Hamilton’s McLaren as he chases Felipe Massa.
