All The Semi Final Places Are Claimed.
May 8th, 2007 by Steve Sandells
With just one day of racing remaining all four semi final places for the Louis Vuitton Cup are claimed. The final place was taken today by the spanish boat Desafio Español even though it lost its race against BMW ORACLE Racing team after the Swedish boat Victory Challenge was pipped to the line by the kiwi’s Emirates Team New Zealand.
Even though the four challengers passing to the next round is now known, tomorrow will stil be an exciting day as the NZL 92 boat races against the USA 98 to decide which team will finish first.
Remember, the boat that heads the ranking after the round robin matches gets to choose their opponent for the semi final best of 9 series. All bets are that the teaming finishing first will choose the Spanish challenger it being the weaker of the other three teams, but the question is, Can home advantage help push Desafio Español to the final?
We’ll have to wait and see. Meanwhile the current standings are as follows.
